Monday 25th April
What a fantastic day we have had! Although the sun has been shining, it has been a little chilly, especially for those who chose to fall into the lake.
After a good journey this morning, we filled up on sandwiches and fruit before setting off on our afternoon activities. The children either went ghyll scrambling, kayaking or sailing. Fun was had by all, especially when Mrs Yarnold fell off the funboat whilst sailing.
After a delicious tea of chicken pie, we ventured back off outside to enjoy an evening of orienteering. This really tired the children out!
Hot chocolate and biscuits warmed them up before heading off to bed.
Tuesday 26th April
Another fantastic day!
After a lovely cooked breakfast, we all went off to do our morning activities which were climbing and canoeing. Many of the children overcame their fear of heights when they climbed to the top of the bird table or the telegraph pole. What an achievement!
Although the temperatures dropped in the afternoon, all the children took part in another round of water activities. Two groups went gyhll scrambling and the others did canoeing and kayaking. We even saw a few flurries of snow!
After a delicious meal of lasagna followed by sticky toffee pudding, we played the alien game which tired all the children out
Wednesday 27th April
The children in 6D arrived safely at Water Park after a good journey this morning! During the final five minutes of the drive, the road was blocked by sheep and lambs! It was a lovely welcome to the countryside. After a lunch of sandwiches and fruit, we said goodbye to 6R. Whilst unpacking in their rooms, the children were treated to a snow hailstorm! This covered the grounds of Water Park in white and was a really surprise.
In the afternoon, we took part in water activities and climbing activities. Two groups tackled the low and high ropes courses whilst the other two groups ventured onto Coniston Water. A fantastic time was had by all and the children worked well to co-operate and work as teams.
After a filling tea consisting of lasagna, garlic bread and salad followed by apple crumble and custard, the children completed games in the drawing room including a quiz. As the sun set over Water Park, we completed an outdoor orienteering course.
To complete the first day, we had hot chocolate and a slice of delicious chocolate birthday cake each.
Thursday 27th April
A brilliant second day for the children in 6D. They were up early to make sandwiches and enjoy a cooked breakfast. After breakfast, all the children in 6D completed ghyll scrambling - a first for Horbury Primary School. It was fantastic to see all the children enjoying the activity together. During ghyll scrambling they endured hail, sleet, snow and heavy rain but the children preserved and really enjoyed themselves.
After a packed lunch of sandwiches, flapjack and fruit the children took part in climbing and canoeing in the rain! The children had hot chocolate throughout the sessions to keep them warm.
Once showered and changed the children enjoyed a roast beef dinner and chocolate pudding with custard for desert. There were clean plates all around!
The evening activity was based in the house whereby the children had to work in threes to complete a picture hunt - it was very competitive! It was hot chocolate and biscuits for supper before bed time!
