Monday 3rd April
The children have had a fantastic first day at Water Park. After setting off at 7:30am and a lunch break at Lancaster Services, the children arrived at Coniston Water. They had a tour of the grounds and ate lunch in the dining room. Then, the children were split into 4 groups and they took part in climbing activities: the bird table and the tree; two person canoeing/trek walking and fun-boat sailing. All of the children had a fantastic time.
After a fun-filled day, the children tucked into lasagna, garlic bread and salad followed by rice pudding and jam. They have ended the evening by playing an outdoor orienteering game.
Tuesday 4th April
The day started with the children making their own sandwiches. They were extremely quick and have broken the Horbury Primary Academy sandwich making record! The children enjoyed a hearty breakfast of: cereal, toast and a cooked breakfast. It was delicious!
The sun came out and it was glorious weather to be in the Lake District. In the morning and afternoon, the groups took part in: ghyll scrambling, sailing, rock-climbing and kayaking. A brilliant time was had by all of the groups. The children enjoyed eating their lunch on the picnic benches out in the sunshine.
After the activities, the children packed their bags and then ate their dinner - chicken pie, chips and peas. To finish the day, the children wrote postcards home and played the Alien game! Another fantastic day at Water Park.

6D - Wednesday 5th April
What a fabulous day we've had!
After our lunch, the children went off in their day groups to take part in a range of activities.
Team Coniston went on an adventure walk, splashing in muddy puddles and then canoed across to Peel Island where Swallows and Amazons was filmed. They had great fun exploring the island.
Team Swirlhow went kayaking on Coniston Water. After learning the basics, they had a great game of water polo - cowboys and indian hoopla!!
Wetherlam went out on the Funboats. The children (and Mr Beaston) learnt how to control the sail and rudder to get across the Lake. They had a great time playing 'Follow My Leader' across the Lake.
After a delicious meal of meatballs, pasta and garlic bread followed by apple crumble and cream, the children explored the grounds following an orienteering map. To finish the night off, a giant game of hide and seek tired the children out!
Hot chocolate and biscuits settled all the children before lights out and a good nights sleep in preparation for a fun-packed day tomorrow!!
Thursday 6th April
Another wonderful day at Water Park!
Swirlhow and Weatherlam have been ghyll scrambling this morning, confidently navigating their way up mountain rivers and climbing waterfalls. All the children managed to get extremely wet and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of their experience! In the afternoon, the children had the chance to use the low ropes course and overcome their fear of heights by conquering the gigantic pole. They also had the chance to attempt the Peter Pan challenge which needed them to work as a team to enable one of their team members to reach the top. The afternoon was finished off with a leisurely canoe ride across Coniston lake.
Coniston started the day off with the low ropes course and then were extremely brave and climbed the abseiling tree which is 54ft. Mr Beaston and many of the children successfully reached the top through shear determination! In the afternoon, Coniston went ghyll scrambling which was great fun. Coniston also managed to get extremely wet while navigating their way up the mountain streams!
